Andrea Franklin’s art is driven by Light
. . . Colour . . . Pattern . . . Passion
Being trained in clothing technology as
well as fashion design, added to 25 years of working in
that marketplace, has had a considerable impact and
influence on what inspires Andrea to paint. The
attention to detail, so essential and important in
bespoke clothing is evident in her work as proportion
and spatial awareness are key components, as well as
light and colour. |

Her subjects reveal her passion for all in the
natural world - flowers, landscapes and animals. The interplay of
light and colour in each of the paintings is part of her unique and
distinctive style. Excited by
combinations of colour, texture, linear patterns and angles, curves
and twists are evident in her beloved winter trees which continue to
inspire her. The repeated shapes, the linear qualities and the
shapes in between the dissection of lines draw her back again and
again.
Working on the
Surrey/Hampshire border Andrea has a positive wealth of countryside
and heathland that keeps her constantly inspired to capture what she
sees and respond to it. The wonderful beech woods and rolling
countryside or the open skied heathland of Ludshott, Hankley or
Frensham Commons, where walking in all seasons, keeps the views
ever-changing and addictive.
Andrea shows her
work at a variety of art society exhibitions as well as The Wey
Gallery, Godalming, The Loft Gallery, Grayshott and Denbies Vineyard
in July/August 2011. |
