Celia was born in 1948, has lived all her life in Surrey and studied life and portrait charcoal drawing with Signorina Simi in Florence. Latterly she has been a regular member of The Studio in Tongham.  She is a member of several local Art Societies and was the winner of the 2003 Guildford Art Society Aquarius Award.  She has held various exhibitions in Surrey and has had work showing at the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London where she won the 2005 RI Medal as well as the Royal Watercolour Society at Bankside.

Although she also paints with pastels, watercolours are her first love and she finds her subject matter in her own garden where she keeps chickens and guineafowl which lend themselves to her figurative surreal style.

Her painting Poultry among Porcelain won the Raymond Krish prize at Farnham Art Society’s Autumn Exhibition 2005 and she was also the winner of the Joe Acheson Award for Watercolour and Gouache 2007.

Celia is also a glass engraver producing sandblasted and drill engraved glass in her own unique style with particular emphasis on natural subjects such as leaves and feathers.  She won the AJS Open Award 2004 for Butterfly Bowl at the GAS exhibition.

She has recently co-written a book ‘Keeping Chickens’ published in April 07 by David & Charles, which includes various uses for feathers and painted eggs as well as hen care and recipes for using eggs.
