.Geoffrey took up painting as a primary occupation after retiring aged 60 in 1984 from a deeply absorbing Civil Service career in aeronautical and mechanical engineering, research and development.  Largely self-taught he paints predominantly with watercolour media and in a 'traditional" manner. 

He enjoys a wide range of subject - landscape, townscape, marine, aviation or anything else which is colourful and attracts his interest.  He has exhibited frequently in the past with the Wessex Artists in Romsey and Salisbury  and in galleries in Hampshire, Kent and Surrey; occasionally also in the Mall and Westminster Galleries in London. In 1999 he won 2nd prize in a nation-wide competition run by Leisure Painter in conjunction with Daler-Rowney.
