International Artist Jean Haines has lived, studied and taught art in Asia, Dubai and Europe. Constant travelling has given Jean the opportunity to study techniques from masters of many nationalities. Her passion for watercolour is evident in her paintings which are created with expressive brushstrokes in a loose style minus the use of a preliminary sketch. Her aim is to capture the essence of the subject with a feeling of emotion and life in her work.

In Hong Kong Jean studied Chinese Brushwork which she incorporates in an East meets West combination of techniques. Jean held her first solo exhibition at the Hunar Gallery in Dubai where her portraits became highly collectible.

In 2008 Jean had work selected for the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London.

Elected as an Associate member of the SWA, Society for Women Artists, Jean was presented with the Anthony J. Lester Art Critic Award in 2009 for her painting “Morning Calls”.

2010 saw Jean become a full member of the SWA Society  for Women Artists and also exhibit as a finalist in the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year Exhibition.

Jean holds increasingly popular workshops in watercolour throughout the year which are held in Hampshire attended by artists from all over the world. Dates and details of each can be found on Jeans web site.  www.jeanhaines.com
