My passage as an artist is a source
of wonderment and a great joy. I have been
exploring emotions, feelings and discovering an
ability I never knew I had. I am a
watercolorist but visually my work has little
connection to traditional watercolour. It is
strong, vibrant and textural. The texture is
achieved solely with the extravagant use of the
watercolour, no additional material is involved.
I have been lucky enough to find a mentor within
the society who I turn to for support, guidance
and
lots of
encouragement to find my own artistic path. My
work does not replicate the visual world
although I am inspired by what is around me.
In June 2007 I travelled to the US for a
two-week course and met a group of the most
friendly and welcoming fellow artists.
Here I gained confidence in the actual
application of the paint, the unrestrained and
pure joy in the use of colour, in not being
afraid to experiment and challenge the 'rules'
on the use of watercolour or on how
to 'construct' a painting. |
