Ria was born in Hampshire and has lived there for most of her life. She taught herself to paint in her teens and was drawn to study BA (Hons) in Fine Art at UCCA Farnham only as her last child began school. Keeping landscape and spatial awareness as her constant basic source of stimuli, Ria specialised for a time in conceptual sculpture. Returning to painting (and the stuff of paint!) now keeps Ria busy producing her own work and commissions as well as tutoring small groups of amateur artists in drawing and painting.

Ria’s works mainly in acrylics and her work is often semi-abstract emerging in no set style, colour featuring heavily among most.
